How to create an email+Slack hybrid group
If you're starting a new project with an external consultant or you work on a team where most of your teammates are mostly in Slack with the exception of a few people, then try out our hybrid email+Slack groups.
These groups work much like an email list or a Google Group, where members can be added and removed as the project or team changes. But the rules are the same: emails and Slack messages are sent to the entire group, every time.
Here's how to create an email+Slack hybrid group:
helpin a DM with MailClark and click "Connect services"
- You'll be redirected to your browser: Click the "Email group" button.
- Choose the channel you'd like to connect with the Email group
- Set up the email address dedicated to the group and your email address. (We'll just start with you as a member in order to send the test. Then we'll add the rest of the email group members after the test goes through.)
- Hit "done" and send a test
Back in your Slack channel, type a message—anything, it’s just a test. After a few seconds to see if you’re done typing, MailClark will give you a preview of your email—hit ‘Send email’. MailClark will ask you whether to start the auto send. In a new email group or subchannel, after you post your first message, MailClark will ask whether to start the automatic sending. If you press ‘Start’, every message posted in the channel will automatically be sent out to the external recipients (including messages posted by other bots).
Pro: no need to hit ‘Send’, it’s all automatic. Con: no preview, no cancel.

@mailclark startto resume it.
- See the message from your new email+Slack inside your email account.
Go to your email account and reply to the test email you’ve just received. Your reply will appear in your Slack channel.
Your email group is ready. Now type
@mailclark settingsagain to add the email addresses for each person you want to be in the group, regardless of whether or not they're using Slack.
